You’ve purchased your park tickets, booked your hotel, planned the outfits but suddenly the forecast for your Disney trip has taken a turn for the worse – rain, wind and cooler than expected temperatures! Your summer stroller setup will need some amendments – but what exactly do you need for your stroller and your toddlers in the winter to visit Disney?
Today, I am sharing exactly that.
Whether you are added to Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California, the wintertime can bring unexpected dips in weather. The forecast the week of your trip may read low 70s for weeks and then BAM a week before your departure, it is looking like rain and wind and low temperatures. Trust me, this exact scenario has happened to us on two winter trips now.
My best advice in two words? BE. PREPARED.
Rather than hoping that the weather will change, choose to be prepared and go in expecting rain and cool weather. Let’s walk through some of my stroller favorites for this time of year.
Rainy Day Must Haves for Your Disney Stroller
Before I go any further, just know: the majority of the items I will be mentioning are universal whether you are using a single, in-line double or tandem double stroller. In the case where something is not universal, I will provide a few options that I would recommend.
1. Stroller Rain Cover
Think of this as a giant poncho for your stroller. The latest model we purchased is a new love of mine; it is h u g e, has its own carrying case, has a built-in pocket where the parent console hangs from the stroller, zippers to let the kids in and out of the stroller easily and has numerous double Velcro pieces around the base to attach it to the stroller. I cannot recommend it enough!
We brought this with us each day of our trip and really only used it once; but we used it the entire day that day. The ironic thing is that the skies would be nice and blue and gorgeous; we would park the stroller to get onto a ride or go to a show and come out to a well soaked stroller rain cover. I was so thankful we had the cover on.
So my biggest tip with the stroller rain cover – put it on and just leave it on. Better safe than sorry!

2. An umbrella!
This may go without saying, but an umbrella is very handy to have. We used ours on the walk back to our hotel primarily on our one very rainy day. My husband and I took turns manning the stroller or the umbrella in the rain; while one of us pushed the stroller, the other provided cover with the umbrella. Security did not bat an eye at us bringing it in, and it just sat in the bottom of the stroller until we needed it.
Any umbrella you have will do, but here is one, just in case: https://a.co/d/90izbzv
3. Blankets
I always bring a seasonally appropriate blanket or two for my kids when we hit the parks. At least one of them will end up wanting to cover up, hide out, bundle up, nap – something – at some point during the day. I keep the blankets in a big, zippered pouch.

4. Zippered Pouches
These pouches are a lifesaver! I use them for a lot of things now that I have them, but for this specific purpose I kept the blankets in a big one, changes of clothes and socks in another, our autograph book in another, bubble wands in another… you get the idea.

5. Purse light, Light Up Necklaces, Flashlight
This one may seem silly, but we have all noticed that if it is raining, it is also cloudy which can mean dark skies earlier in the day than anticipated. If your family is anything like ours, we push as long as we can to get our full days’ worth of park time, or as close to it, so once we leave it can be pretty dark.
I have found that having something that lights up will help in a few ways: it keeps my kids feeling like it isn’t quite so dark, it helps our stroller stand out as we are navigating through crowds, and it can help us see the ground ahead of us when overhead lights are few and far between.

These are just a few of my must-haves for our stroller during the rainy, cold winter months. I believe these are some of the best times to visit the Disney parks but being prepared helps to make everyone’s day go much more smoothly.
